Also known as stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR), is an advanced radiation therapy technique that uses highly precise and concentrated radiation doses to kill cancer cells in various parts of the body such as the bone, lungs, and liver.

This is Singapore’s only 360 degree dedicated cyclotron-powered proton beam gantry

HalcyonTM radiotherapy system—the newest treatment platform in the Varian portfolio—we’re helping create radiotherapy’s future.
Breath-holding (SDX and RPM)
Available for motion-management in breast, lung, liver etc radiotherapy.
Fully integrated into the Somatom ( CT simulator) , Halcyon ( xray radiotherapy) and Probeam (proton beam) machines.
Meet Our Team of Physicist
Ian Yeap
Ian has almost 20 years of clinical experience in radiation therapy. He graduated from the University of Sydney (UOS) and underwent internship training at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). He was invited to start a new radiation therapy centre at Concord International Hospital (CIH) Singapore, building the new department with a new team of professionals and specialists globally. He completed clinical training in MD Anderson Houston, USA for photon and proton therapy, and brought their work standards into practice locally. Upon joining SAM, he received training in Maryland Proton Treatment Centre (MPTC) Baltimore, USA in proton therapy.
Nasuha
Nasuha Amran is a licensed Radiation Therapist with 7 years in the healthcare industry. She graduated from London South Bank University with a Bachelor of Science(Honours) in Radiographic Studies. She was formerly an RT at National Cancer Centre Singapore where she was involved in Patient Education and Quality Improvement projects. Nasuha joined Proton Therapy SAM in 2022 and also underwent Proton Training at Maryland Proton Therapy Centre, USA for a month.
Prescillia Tan
Prescillia Tan is a highly skilled professional who graduated from London South Bank University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Radiographic Studies. With a decade-long career, she had garnered extensive experience at prestigious institutions, including Singapore National Cancer Centre and Farrer Park Hospital with employing various treatment techniques like IMRT, VMAT, SBRT and brachytherapy. Prescillia also specializes in paediatric mask making for proton therapy, ensuring precision and comfort for young patients.
Shirlynn Ngoh
Shirlynn, an experienced Radiation Therapist with four years of expertise in administering precise radiation therapy treatments, holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Radiation Therapy from Singapore Institute of Technology – Trinity College. During her tenure at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, she gained hands-on proficiency in IMRT/VMAT/Tomotherapy, Brachytherapy and treatment planning. Shirlynn also completed a clinical attachment at St. James Hospital in Dublin, broadening her global perspective and cultural adaptability. Shirlynn is dedicated to advancing her expertise in proton therapy and contributing to the cutting-edge cancer treatment at Proton Therapy SG.
Alexa Tan Xiao Wei
Xiao Wei graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science in Radiation Therapy from RMIT, Australia, and had undergone proton training in St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in the USA. Prior to joining Proton Therapy Singapore, Xiao Wei was a senior radiation therapist at National Cancer Centre where she pioneered proton therapy treatment and set up a pediatric program that includes using virtual reality (VR) to aid pediatric patient education in radiotherapy. Besides, she has written and standardised various treatment protocols for pediatric treatments, ocular brachytherapy as well as proton therapy.
Meet Our Team of Therapists
Yoo Seung Hoon
Dr Hoon graduated from Chung Ang University in Korea with a PhD in Plasma Physics. He has 13 years’ experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist. He received proton therapy training at Korea National Cancer Center and Maryland Proton Therapy Center. Dr Hoon does quality assurances and treatment planning. He was involved in the commissioning of the SAM proton centre.
Dr Rachel Lin Yen Hwa
Lin graduated from Hiroshima University with a PhD in Medical Sciences, specializing in Radiation Disaster Recovery (Medicine) and Radiation Oncology Physics. She received training at the National Institute of Radiological Sciences in Japan, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Maryland Proton Therapy Center in the USA. Her work involves developing and implementing operational protocols to ensure the safe delivery of radiation in the clinic. Her interests focus on advanced approaches to radiation dosimetry, improving the efficiency of radiation therapy, and ensuring the quality assurance of radiation therapy delivery.
Tan Wei Sing
Miss Tan graduated from University of Malaya with a Master in Medical Physics. She has 7 years’ experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist. She received proton therapy training at The Christie Hospital, Manchester. She is proficient in radiotherapy planning and quality checks. Miss Tan was involved in the commissioning of the proton centre.
Cheah Ying Ying
Miss Cheah graduated from the University of Malaya with a Master in Medical Physics. She has 4 years’ experience in ionising radiation and diagnostic imaging physics. She has 5 years’ experience as a radiation oncology medical physicist. Miss Cheah is proficient in stereotactic radiotherapy planning. She received proton therapy training at The Christie Hospital, Manchester.
